Russia Has Lost One-Third of Its Forces in Disastrous Invasion of Ukraine

After nearly five months of fighting, the Russian military lost one-third of its forces, according to the highest British military commander, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin.

He declared at least 50,000 Russian troops have been killed or injured.

Russia Lost Stupefying Amounts of Tanks, Armored Vehicles

As per the latest estimate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, after 145 days of fighting, more than 38,450 Russian troops have been killed in combat. Close to 11,000 Russian pieces of military equipment have been destroyed.

The latter figure includes 1,687 main battle tanks, 3,886 armored personnel carriers, 2,753 trucks and jeeps, 220 warplanes, and much more.

The total number of Russian troops killed in action, however, may be much higher. It could be more than 70,000 when counting in Putin’s private army mercenaries, such as the Wagner Group,

It has lost more than 10,000 troops, according to some reports, as well as the auxiliaries from the Russian National Guard.

It’s lost the proxies from the ethnic Russian conscripts from the parts of the Donbas region occupied back in 2014, during Putin’s first invasion of Ukraine.

Russia More ‘Diminished’ Than Before Invasion

Western estimates of the Russian war losses have, as a rule, been more conservative since they oftentimes tend to require “visual evidence,” such as photos or video footage.

On Sunday, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the Chief of the Defense Staff of the UK, largely confirmed the Ukrainian estimates to date.

He stated at least 50,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the nearly five months of war so far.

Radakin also confirmed that close to 1,700 Russian tanks and 4,000 armored vehicles have been blown up, largely with the US-made Javelin and UK-made NLAW anti-tank portable missile launchers.

He told BBC One in an interview quoted by The Daily Mail that the Donbas region represents only about 10% of Ukraine’s territory. It has been almost 150 days of war now, and Russia isn’t even close to conquering all of it.

Radakin emphasized that Russia is really “struggling” to conquer that region. The reason for that is the “courage and determination” of the defenders of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s military believes it can win the war and remove the Russian occupiers from all of its pre-2014 territories, including the Crimean Peninsula in the Black Sea.

At the same time, the highest British military commander cautioned that even with its mind-blowing losses, Russia still presents the biggest foreign threat to the UK.

He also dismissed as unrealistic the hopes that murderous Moscow tyrant Putin could be toppled in some way or assassinated, with the ruling regime in Russia remaining “relatively stable.

Radakin stressed that Russia is “more diminished” than it was before attacking Ukraine. Yet, even as it is failing “in all of its ambitions,” it poses a big challenge to the world order.
